I have 15 minutes before I leave the house for tuition. And I don't wish to go.
It's not that I don't want to teach them or I don't want the money. Yes, I do want it cuz' I have loads of stuffs on my mind which I wanna get particularly electronics which costs hundred over dollars. I'm waiting for the next PC show in June. Hopefully, I could save enough by then. Hmmm..
Anyhoot, back to the main point here. I think F-mon knows how I'm feeling right now. When you said that you will start the lesson now, they will create 1001 excuses like "I want to go toilet" or "I'm thirsty ah. I go drink water first k. For awhile only," and the classic one "Wait ah, kak. I go and get my book first,". And their definition of "awhile" or "sekejap" is like 5 to 10 minutes? Like hey, I don't mind if you are wasting time because at the end of the day, I'm still getting paid. But what irritates me the most is that you expect me to believe that you can't even focus and concentrate for just an hour? Five minutes also cannot. Your attention span so little meh? The rest of the day, you can do whatever you like and its none of my business. But when I'm there, I expect some respect from you. I could be doing other fruitful stuffs rather than spending my time there. What's the purpose of my presence? I expect a little co-operation today. I tried to raised the point to the parents but to no avail. You know how parents are so defensive over their kids these days. Teachers can't even lay a finger on them or they will report it as abuse. Like .. Back during my time, my Malay teacher would "piat" your ears and twist it around as if it’s a toy. Kids these days are so pampered.
And when you give them any assignments or homework, you come back the next day and nothing is done. The page is still as squeaky clean as you saw it the previous day. And they have the cheek to say that they had attempted the question but cannot solved. And when exams are drawing near, they start to panic like as if Singapore will be hit by tsunami. And then expect me to give you guys last minute crash course? Pfft.
